Bricks were built, drones were flown, robots were programmed, crochet was made, seeds were planted, and folks had a great time at the 2nd annual Barnes & Noble Mini Maker Faire for two fun filled days in November (5th and 6th).

Community Makers Come Together

Makers from all over the area worked through Alamance Makers Guild to exhibit, demo, volunteer, and entertain at the Alamance Crossing Barnes & Noble.

Exhibitors included Alamance Makers Guild, showing off its Micro Controller Group’s Arduino powered “Big Tetris” game, STEAM Junction talking about its new Makerspace, Burlington Mini Maker Faire promoting the upcoming 2017 event (on April 22, 2017, save the date!), EV3 Robotics from Blessed Sacrament School showing off LEGO powered robots, Bricks 4 Kidz of Piedmont NC with brick builds and free play, Dudley High School Electric Vehicle Team talking about their trip to the Shell Eco Marathon, Angela Parrish with Recycled Crochet demonstrations, and Blessed Sacrament School of Burlington letting folks plant a seed and learn about what Green has to do with Making.

Attendees got to play with cutting edge STEAM toys, tools, and kits that are now being sold and supported by Barnes & Noble nation-wide. Our local Barnes & Noble also set up a book fair in the name of Alamance Makers Guild!

Thanks to attendees telling cashiers that they wanted to support the Maker Movement in Burlington with a portion of their purchases, we were able to raise $850 that will help fund some of the expenses associated with our next Maker Faire. Thank you Barnes and Noble!
